Long Weekend




Canada Day

Holiday celebrating the anniversary of Canada’s birthday, celebrated a year the first day of July.

On this date it have many public events, such as parades, carnivals, festivals, barbecues, air and maritime shows, fireworks, and free musical concerts. In Vancouver all the people see big fireworks near Canada Place. After people stay near or on the beach and make a barbecue with parents and friends.

Victoria Day

Is holiday celebrating the birthday Queen Victoria’s, celebrated on the first Monday on or before May 24.

Commemorate it’s especially on Monday night, because they have fireworks in Victoria. But many people take the holiday for to relax in home our go to a beach, because this holiday starts in summer.

Banks, schools (KGIC and others), many stores and restaurants are closed on the Monday.

British Columbia Day

British Columbia Day is commemorated your birthday that it’s in first Monday of August.

In British Columbia many people use the long weekend to make short trips. Many People go camping, hike or plan canoe trips.

In Vancouver, various celebrations are organized. Are makes firework display. Also have gay parade in this date. Everyone stops to watch the parades on the main streets.

Labour Day

Celebrated on the first Monday in September in Canada. Labour Day is an annual holiday to celebrate the economic and social achievements of workers.

Many people in Vancouver they use this holiday that go to camp, because this holiday is virtually the end the summer, but have a people change de camp for resorts and shorts trips. The holiday is before starting classes at universities, so that all students enjoy to the maximum to get one more semester of school.
