Day in Canada, Night in China

Night Market in China Town

If you stay in Vancouver over the summer, you are so lucky! You can not only see Canadian life style but also glance at Chinese culture. This article is about new Night Market in Chinatown, please keep it in your mind there is another Night Market in Richmond.

There are so many products there. I can tell you the most famous things there are Asian handicrafts such as dolls, little sculptures that look like Chinese girl, and accessories such as a colorful bracelet that is made of thread, and souvenirs like beautiful and sexy Chi- Pao(Chinese traditional clothing), writing brushes, or gorgeous chopstick set. Those things are unique and hard to afford unless you visit China.

In summer you may feel hot and the heat is bothering you, so keep you from hanging around. It’s time to stand up! Enjoy fantastic and beautiful night at the Night Market.

Information

This year the Night Market is started on May 14 this year and it will continue until September 5. The market only opens on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. Every week it opens at 6:30 p.m. and it closes at 11 p.m. If you are interested in Asian culture or you came from Asia it will be a really great time. Are you not interested in Asian culture? Well, it’s okay, because there are dozens of booths that you can enjoy. Some booths sell things that I mentioned above, and the others sell variety things such as clothes, CDs, DVDs and snacks. At the Night Market you can afford these things in cheap prices.

How to get there

The Night market is located between Main St. and Columbia St. It is not that far from downtown Vancouver. It is easy. There are two ways to go there. Follow me.

The First way to go there is go there by bus. Take the 19 and visit this website to check your time.

Second, walk
Follow the Silk Road banners, actually I didn’t know about this but I could get information on the Vancouver Chinatown website. The banner starts from Vancouver Public Library, what a familiar place for ESL students!

Tips
Actually people usually say that Chinatown is dangerous place to go at night. It is much safer when they’re open Night Market. But please be safe.

When will you go, this week? Actually every week they have a different event, here is schedule. When do you want to go?
